Introduction

CAPTCHA is an acronym for “Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart.” A CAPTCHA is a visual device that ensures that a human being, rather than a computer, is interacting with the store. CAPTCHA can be used for both the Admin and customers.

  • Customer CAPTCHA:

CAPTCHA can be required to log in to a customer account or be configured to appear after several unsuccessful attempts. It can also be used for other forms in the storefront.

To configure CAPTCHA for customers follow the below steps :

  • From your store’s dashboard, go to “System” > “General Configuration”> Customers > Customers Section
  • Click on “CAPTCHA” tab to expand it
  • Set “Enable CAPTCHA on frontend” to  “Yes”
  • Select all forms into “Form” box or you can choose the options that you need. 
  • In “Displaying Mode” box select  “Always” or ” “After the number of attempts to login”
  • Fill “Number of Unsuccessful Attempts to Login”: defines the number of unsuccessful login attempts after which captcha should be displayed.
  • Fill “CAPTCHA Timeout (minutes)”: defines a period of time after which captcha displayed is no longer valid.
  • Fill “Number of Symbols”:  defines the number of captcha symbols displayed
  • Choose the “Symbols Used in CAPTCHA”: allows specifying symbols used for captcha purposes
  • Set “Case Sensitive” to Yes Or No:  defines is captcha should be case sensitive.
  • Once you finish click on “Save Config”

  • Admin CAPTCHA:

For an extra level of security, you can add a CAPTCHA to the Admin Login page. Administrator users can reload the displayed CAPTCHA by clicking the Reload icon in the upper-right corner of the image. The number of reloads is not limited.

To configure CAPTCHA for the Admin follow the below steps :

  • From your store’s dashboard, go to “System” > “Advanced”>Setting
  • From the left-hand side menu, choose “Admin”
  • click on “CAPTCHA” tab to expand it
  • Set “Enable CAPTCHA FOR Admin” to  “Yes”
  • Select all forms into “Form” box or you can choose the options that you need. 
  • In “Displaying Mode” box select  “Always” or ” “After the number of attempts to login”
  • Fill “Number of Unsuccessful Attempts to Login”: defines the number of unsuccessful login attempts after which captcha should be displayed.
