4.10.1 Create Blog Categories & Posts

Introduction

In the previous chapter, we have explained how to configure your store’s Blog Extension in order to start creating and editing your blog posts. In this chapter, we will be covering how to create/edit blog Categories and Posts

Steps

  • Blog Categories:

Before you start creating new blog posts, it is recommended to create separate categories according to the topic you are writing about (i.e. Business News, Trending, 2018 Events…etc)

To add a new Blog Category, follow the below steps:

  • From your store’s admin panel, go to Content > Blog > Categories
  • Click on Add New
  • From the Category Information section fill the following fields:
    • Title: The title of the category (i.e. Trending)
    • Identifier: The URL identifier. The identifier must be lowercase and without spaces or special characters (i.e. trending-2018)
    • Sort Order: The position of the category in comparison with other created categories (0= 1st position, 1 = 2nd position, 2 = 3rd position….etc)
    • Store View: The store view in which you want to display this category
    • Keywords: Search keywords, separate every keyword with a comma (i.e. Trending, Jordan, UAE, KSA)
    • Description: The meta description of this specific category, will enhance your Search Engine Optimization. (follow this Article for more recommendations)
  • Click on Save Category

  • Blog Posts:

After you have created your blog categories, now it is time to start posting your blogs and linking them to the categories

To add a new blog post, follow the below steps:

  • From your store’s admin panel, go to Content > Blog > Posts
  • Click on Add Post
  • From the Post Information section, fill the following fields:
    • Title: The title of the blog post (i.e. Trending Apparel Summer 2018)
    • Identifier: The URL identifier. The identifier must be lowercase and without spaces or special characters (i.e. trending-apparel-2018)
    • Store View: The store view in which you want to display this category
    • Category: The category(s) which you have created in the previous section of this article
    • Status: Enabled or Disabled (Hidden pages won’t be shown in blog but still can be accessed directly)
    • Enable Comments: Enabled or Disabled (Disabling will close the post to new comments)
    • Tags: The tags you desire to add to this specific post. Separate tags with commas
    • Short Content: A brief content about the topics of this blog post
    • Content: The long description of the topic of this blog post
  • From the Advanced Options section, fill the below fields:
    • Keywords: Search keywords, separate every keyword with a comma (i.e. Trending, Jordan, UAE, KSA)
    • Description: The meta description of this specific category, will enhance your Search Engine Optimization. (follow this Article for more recommendations)
    • Poster: Write the name of this blog poster or leave blank to use the current username
    • Created On: Choose the date on which this post was created
  • Click on Save Post

Blog Post New

To check your blog posts, you can go directly to yourstore.com/blog (or the route you have set in Route to Blog while Configuring Your Blog)
