3.2 Related, Up-Selling and Cross-Selling Products

Introduction

In your store, you need to build a relationship between your products to enhance the customer experience while he/she navigating your store.

You can offer him/her other products and options to look at, while he/she searching for a specific product.

This approach called relations, and we have three main relations between the products:

  1. Related products
  2. Up-Selling
  3. Cross-Selling

1- Related Products:

Related products are meant to be purchased in addition to the item the customer is viewing.

To set up related products, please follow the below points:

  • From the admin panel go to Catalog > Manage Products
  • Click on the product that you want to add related products to
  • Click on Related Products from Product Information left side menu
  • Click the Reset Filter button in the upper-right to list all the available products.
  • In the list, select the checkbox in the first column of any product you want to feature as a related product

  •  When Complete, click on Save button

Related products will be displayed on the product’s page as shown below:

2- Up-Selling 

Up-sell products are items that your customer might prefer instead of the product currently viewed. An item offered as an up-sell might be of a higher quality or more popular. Up-sell products appear on the product page.

To set up up-sell products, please follow the below points:

  • From the admin panel go to Catalog > Manage Products
  • Click on the product that you want to add related products to
  • Click on Up-sells from Product Information left side menu
  • Click the Reset Filter button in the upper-right to list all the available products.
  • In the list, select the checkbox in the first column of any product you want to feature as an up-sells product

  •  When Complete, click on Save button

The Up-selling products will be displayed under We Also Recommend tab as shown below:

3- Cross-Seling

Cross-sell products appear on the shopping cart page, just before the customer begins checkout.

To set up Cross-sell products, please follow the below points:

  • From the admin panel go to Catalog > Manage Products
  • Click on the product that you want to add related products to
  • Click on Cross-sells from Product Information left side menu
  • Click the Reset Filter button in the upper-right to list all the available products.
  • In the list, select the checkbox in the first column of any product you want to feature as a Cross-sells product

  •  When Complete, click on Save button

The Cross-selling products will be displayed on the shopping cart page as shown below:
